WORLD PRIDE 2019
In honor of World Pride 2019, Barneys New York collaborated with Balenciaga on designing and releasing limited-edition bags to be available at select delis and other retailers along the NYC Pride Parade route. In response to the plastic bag ban, we partnered with Indonesian manufacturer, Avani Eco, on producing earth-friendly, biodegradable and compostable bags made from cassava starch. Branded with "LOVE IS FOR EVERYONE”, the bags served as a tribute to the streets of New York City as well as a celebration of the LGBTQ community and that love is for everyone, even the planet.
For this project, I was tasked to source an appropriate plant-based bag vendor as well as responsible for managing assets between all collaborators. We personally scouted each bag distribution retailer as well as delivered the appropriate materials to each location prior to the parade. Additionally, we worked with our graphics team to design and create a web-based map for customers to navigate where to receive a free “Proud Not Plastic” campaign bag.
